So the other day Braxton was out riding his bike and he ran into
the back of a parked truck. He says there was a dog chasing him
so he was paying attention to the dog chasing him and not where
he was going. He hit the truck with his front tire and then his face.
Miraculously he did not break his nose or get a concussion but his
face sure took a beating. We called him the avatar boy for a couple
of days until the swelling went down. He was pretty tough and did
well once the bleeding stopped. ( He hates blood and freaks out
whenever he bleeds and there was A LOT of blood.) Luckily the
swelling has gone down and his black eyes are mostly gone. We still
get some looks. We had a social worker come to our house.
They had the wrong house and were looking for a neighbor in the
next neighborhood over. Braxton answered the door and the lady had
this shocked look on her face. I pointed her to the right house and she
asked my neighbor how things were at our house and if there was anything
she needed to be concerned about. Hopefully we won't be getting any visits
from the state.

A couple of hours after it happened.

This was the next morning. He has a little bit
of bed head!

Day number three. This was the worst.

Day Four.

Fifth day.

The boys turned on the sprinkler and left it on
all day so the backyard got a little flooded but
they had a great time running and playing in the
water. (sorry can't figure out how to turn the
underlining off.)

Braxton turned 5 on June 30th. We decided that this would
be the first year he could have a friend party and he invited
11 kids. It was quite chaotic but really fun.
He wanted a pirate birthday so this is what I came up with.

These are the invitations we sent out. We rolled them
up and tied them with twine and put them in empty
water bottles with a little sand in the bottom.

Every one eating cake and ice cream.

I am pretty proud of this cake. I make all my kids birthday
cakes and this was the best one yet. Don't worry, it wasn't
hard!

The pinata.

Eating pizza.

Opening presents.

The balloons. We were supposed to have the party
outside but it was so windy. We ended up having to move
most of the party inside. I had twice the balloons
but they all popped. I was so mad!

We were able to play all the games outside before the
storm hit which was good because all I had planned
were water games. We walked the plank, dug for burried
treasure, threw cannon balls at a pirate ship and tried to
sink it, and we had a pirate war where I drew pirate ships on
the driveway and divided the kids into teams. The first team to
"sink" or wash all the chalk away with water balloons won.
It was lots of fun but I don't think we will have that many
kids next year.

For some reason, Braxton can sleep in the craziest positions.

Here are a few Christmas photos.

Like father like son (do you like our big patch of weeds?)

Jack didn't have a third hand so he used his mouth to hold the chapstick
